Current conditions
A significant and sustained change in the weather will approach. The high-pressure system is coming to an end, and a first, initially weak cold front will make itself felt during the night leading into Thursday. On Thursday itself, we will start the day with a few residual disturbances. The weather will calm down slightly in the morning before a warm front with stronger westerly winds will take effect in the afternoon. Precipitation will set in and continue into Friday night, with heavier snowfall expected in the western foothills of the mountains. At the same time, significantly milder air will reach us. The recent cold spell will come to an end, with the snow line rising to 1400 meters above sea level by Friday morning. However, it is quite possible that the massive cold air mass currently over us will initially prevent the snow line from rising. In addition, a cold front will quickly follow on Friday during the day. This will not only cause temperatures in the mountains to drop again, but also mean that the weather will remain quite unsettled overall. Shower clouds, southerly foehn winds, and sunshine will battle for dominance, as in April. However, the cold front will prevail overall, bringing very windy northwesterly conditions with prolonged snowfall from Saturday to Sunday. After a brief lull on Sunday, the next frontal system will reach us on Monday.
„As a meteorologist in the region, I am not only very familiar with the small-scale meteorological particuliarities that distinguish the Arlberg region from other regions, but also with the demands that locals and guests place on a regional weather report.“
